1. Who we are

Golf Event Scoring ("we", "us") provides event registration, entry, and live scoring services for golf tournaments and competitions. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what rights you have over it, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use the platform, we may collect:

Players: name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, nationality, country of residence, home club, WHS Handicap Index, passport/national ID number (where required for an event), dietary requirements, golf shirt size, emergency contact details, and hole-by-hole scores you or your scorer enter.
Event organisers / demo requests: name, email, mobile number, organisation, country, and details about the event you're enquiring about.
Technical data: your IP address at the point you give consent (kept as evidence of that consent), and device/session data needed to keep the scoring app working (e.g. saved round data, stored locally on your device).

3. Why we collect it

To register you for and run the golf events you enter.
To calculate handicaps and scores correctly.
To send you event-related communications (entry confirmations, waiting list updates, event logistics).
To send you marketing communications — only if you've explicitly opted in via the marketing consent checkbox at registration.
To respond to demo/contact requests from prospective event organisers.

4. Consent

Where registration requires it, you're asked to separately confirm: (a) agreement to the rules, regulations and conditions of the competition you're entering, and (b) agreement to this privacy policy and POPIA consent requirements. Marketing communications are opt-in only and never assumed. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us (see below).

5. Who we share it with

We use third-party service providers to operate the platform: Supabase (database hosting), Render (application hosting), and Resend (email delivery). These providers process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes. We don't sell your personal information.

6. How long we keep it

We retain player and event data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet reasonable record-keeping expectations for tournament results and handicap history. Demo/contact requests are retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond to and follow up on the enquiry.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to object to or withdraw consent for its use. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
